Carter Sampson

Carter Sampson is an Oklahoma born and raised, award winning singer songwriter. She tours nationally and internationally playing both solo and with her trio & band. Sampson won 1st place in the Chris Austin Song Contest at Merlefest and was a top 5 finalist in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour Contest. Sampson’s 2016 release Wilder Side received international attention and was No. 3 on the Euro Americana year end chart for 2016.

Since then, she released “Lucky” (2018), an album that elicits such praise as: “Lucky proves that there is plenty of ground to cover even when the terrain is smooth. Sampson followed that release with a 5 track EP in 2019 titled “Trio” recorded with fellow Okies, Kyle Reid and Jason Scott. The songs are stripped down and presented with different textures, courtesy of her multi-instrumentalist accompaniment, but Carter’s vocals are still front-and-center, while her heartfelt, genuine stories still propel the music.

Then, in 2020 she released a single titled “There’s Always Next Year”. “Hallelujah there’s always next year” brings a hopeful perspective coming out of a tough year for everyone.

Carter is the founder and director of The Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls OKC, a nonprofit volunteer run organization that empowers girls through music education.
